Dionysius’s Ear is an artificial cave. The famous Italian painter, Caravaggio, called it Dionysius’s Ear for its strange shape. The legend tells us that the tyrant Dionysius built this cave as a prison to lock up his political opponents. The legend claims the perfect acoustics were used to eavesdrop on the prisoners political views and speaches.
